Thousand participate in 5km Women First Run “Dashen Bank Continues as Sole Bank Partner
The 2025 Safaricom Women First 5 km Run, organized in collaboration with Dashen Bank and stakeholders, took place successfully today, attracting an impressive turnout of participants.This annual event, part of the Great run Ethiopia series , has been a hallmark of women’s empowerment for over 22 years.
This year’s race saw a remarkable more than16,000 participants, all registered through Dashen Bank branches and Safaricom M-Pesa.The event was themed “All Rights, for All Women,” in alignment with a campaign by the United Nations.
A competition named after Dashen Bank featured an ambassador contest, where Hiwote Kefelgen, the Chief People Officer of Dashen Bank, awarded special prizes to the winners, who were ambassadors from Austria, Belgium, and the European Union.
In addition, for the competition to recognize and celebrate exemplary women, culminating in an awards ceremony where Elias Hussein, the Bank’s Chief Strategy Officer, presented accolades to the winners.
Dashen Bank utilized this platform to promote its newly launched Dashen Super App, marking a significant milestone as the first super app in the Ethiopian banking industry. Dashen Bank was the sole bank partner of the event.
