CBE Honors Dashen Bank on Landmark 30th Anniversary
In a significant gesture of solidarity within Ethiopia’s financial sector, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) paid a visit to Dashen Bank headquarters today to celebrate the latter’s 30th year of operations.
The visit, led by a representative of CBE President Abie Sano, marks a rare public display of camaraderie between the state-owned giant and one of Ethiopia’s most prominent private banks.
During the visit, the CBE representative praised the “successful 30-year journey” of Dashen Bank. He highlighted cooperation between the two institutions, noting that their partnership in various areas of the Ethiopian financial landscape.
The representative extended congratulations on behalf of CBE to Dashen’s leadership, its thousands of employees, and the shareholders.
Responding to the honors, Dashen Bank CEO Asfaw Alemu expressed profound gratitude for CBE’s role in the industry. He lauded CBE for its great contribution to the establishment and growth of private banks in Ethiopia, specifically noting the transfer of professional acumen and expertise that has allowed the private sector to flourish.
“CBE has been a pillar for the entire industry. Their mentorship and the professional standards they set allowed banks like Dashen to grow and innovate over the last three decades,” Asfaw remarked during the welcome.
Dashen Bank has evolved from a fledgling private venture into a private banking powerhouse. Its 30th anniversary comes at a time of landmark growth; the bank recently reported a 34% revenue increase to 31.4 billion Birr and total assets exceeding 254 billion Birr.
The anniversary marks the beginning of a three-month-long celebration. The 30th-anniversary festivities are expected to conclude late in the current fiscal year, reinforcing Dashen’s position as a leader in Ethiopia’s competitive banking market.
