Dashen Bank opened its 224th & 225th Dashen Hawzen Adebabay and Dashen European Union Branches in Tigray Regional State, Mekelle Special Zone & Addis Ababa City. The Branches have commenced their operations on September 08, 2016.

The cards, which are named Dashen Bank American Express Gold & Green Debit, offer an extensive range of benefits.  Dashen Bank has started Ria worldwide money transfer service through all its Branches & Forex Bureaus, since February 19, 2016, In addition to Western Union, MoneyGram, Express Money, Dahabshiil, TransFast, EzRemit , FloCash & Dawit. 

 

 The London based The Banker Magazine, an affiliate of the Financial Times has named Dashen “Bank of the year 2015 for Ethiopia” for the twelfth time in just, fourteen years. 

 

 Dashen Bank is commemorating its 20th anniversary with different events under the theme “Celebrating 20 Years of Success”. Ethiopia’s biggest private bank started operation on January 1, 1996, following the promulgation of the “Licensing and Supervision of Banking Business” Proclamation No. 84/1994, now superseded by Proclamation No. 592/2008. The Bank has started celebrating its two decades of service with its esteemed customers and all other stakeholders in various events. 

 

 Dashen Bank has appointed two vice presidents upon securing the endorsement of the National Bank of Ethiopia. Accordingly, Ato Henok Kebede assumed the helm of Vice Presidency for Operations Management effective October 27, 2015, while Ato Yared Mesfin was appointed Vice President in charge of Resources and Facilities Management as of November 3, 2015. Both Executives have extensive experience in the Ethiopian banking industry and had been working on the capacity of District Manager at CBE before joining Dashen. The Management of the Bank has also appointed Ato Emiru Degu as ICT Advisor to the President. Ato Emiru has extensive experience working for some of the biggest banking groups in the US. In a related note, Ato Robel Alemayehu has rejoined Dashen Bank as Manager of E-banking Services Department. In his notice of appointment, the President of the Bank, Ato Asfaw Alemu, called upon the entire staff to welcome the appointees and cooperate with them in their effort to prudently exercise the duties and responsibilities vested upon them. 

 

 The 21st Ordinary and 19th Extra Ordinary Annual General Meeting of shareholders of Dashen S.C. was held on November 24, 2015 at Sheraton Addis, Lalibela Ball room. At the meeting, Ato Teka Asfaw, Chairman of the Board, presented the Directors’ report. President of the Bank, Ato Asfaw Alemu, also gave highlights on the overall performance of the Bank. Furthermore, Auditors’ of the Bank, A.A. Bromhead & Co. gave assurance on the reported financial statements. Following the reports, shareholders discussed on wide-ranging issues all aimed at betterment of the Bank. As usual, the meting witnessed unwavering commitment of the shareholders for sustained growth with the unanimous decision reached to raise the paid-up capital of the Bank by Birr 300 million. 

 

 Dashen Bank netted Birr 729 Million in 2014/15 fiscal period.

 Dashen Bank and American Express have announced a new partnership, which grants Dashen Bank a license to acquire merchants onto the American Express network in Ethiopia.Today’s launch will give American Express Card Members the opportunity to use their Cards at Ethiopian merchants acquired onto the American Express merchant network by Dashen Bank. Card Members will also have access to American Express’ worldwide-ATM network.
