Dashen Bank CEO highlights Sustainable Growth as the New Focus of Competition in Ethiopia’s Financial Sector

Speaking at Ethiopia Finance Forum 2026, Dashen Bank CEO Asfaw Alemu highlighted the changing dynamics of Ethiopia’s financial sector, emphasizing the importance of strong capital, good governance, technology, efficiency, risk management, and customer value.

He also noted that foreign strategic investment can further strengthen the sector by bringing greater competition and opportunities for collaboration and shared learning, ultimately contributing to a more confident and resilient financial ecosystem.

The Ethiopia Finance Forum 2026 (EFF 2026) is being held from 29 September to 1 October 2026 at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in Addis Ababa.

Convened by the National Bank of Ethiopia, the forum brings together policymakers, financial institutions, investors, development partners and industry leaders to exchange perspectives and explore opportunities shaping the future of Ethiopia’s financial sector.
